A digital watch face on a photo of mountains above a sea of clouds at sunset. A large time in the middle with the minutes in your accent colour and small seconds next to it. At the top an arc with the battery, below it the weekday, the date and the full month name. At the bottom four fields, each with an icon, a label and a progress bar.

The photo is darkened under the text so the time and numbers stay readable, also in sunlight. On watches with a MIP screen (fenix 7, fenix 8 Solar, Forerunner 255 and 955) the mountains are a black silhouette against the sky, because the 64 colours of such a screen cannot show the orange haze without noise. Prefer no photo? The "Dark background" style is black with a mountain outline.

By default the fields show steps, distance, calories and heart rate, and the top arc shows the battery. Each of the five places can be changed. You can pick from 33 kinds of data, including energy level, stress, altitude, temperature with a weather icon, pressure, floors, VO2 max, sleep score, wind, humidity, UV index and chance of rain. A field can also stay empty.

The bars only show progress where there is something to measure it against: steps and floors against your watch goals, distance and calories against a goal you set in the face, heart rate against the maximum heart rate from your profile. A field without a goal shows an empty track.

You can also set:

• the accent colour: red, orange, gold, green, turquoise, blue or white,
• minutes in the accent colour or white,
• thin minute marks on the edge of the screen,
• the label at the bottom: watch model, your own text up to 16 characters (ready-made: DIALFORGE, SUMMIT, TRAIL, ALPINE) or nothing,
• seconds (hidden automatically when the watch saves the screen),
• the thresholds where the battery turns orange and red,
• how long weather data counts as current. The phone sends the weather and the face cannot force it to fetch new data, so older data shows as "--",
• the always-on screen on AMOLED: whole face dimmed (default), time with date, time only or off,
• the date language (13 languages), time format and leading zero.

You can change everything on the watch too, in the Customize menu. Watches with more memory show a live preview; on older ones (fenix 5 Plus, 6S, Forerunner 245, 745 and 945, the first MARQ, Descent Mk2 S, Venu Sq) the menu is a plain list.

The 05-55 number ring in the preview picture is the watch bezel, not the screen, so the face only has optional minute marks.

Works on 101 Garmin watches: fenix 5 Plus to fenix 9, epix, Enduro, MARQ (also MARQ 2), D2, Descent (also Mk2), Approach S50 and S70, Forerunner 165 to 970, Venu (also Venu Sq), vivoactive 4 to 6, the Legacy series and Instinct 3 AMOLED. Older models (fenix 5 Plus and 6, Forerunner 245, 745 and 945, the first MARQ, Venu, Venu Sq, vivoactive 4, Enduro, Descent Mk2, the Legacy series) have no memory for the photo: there the face always uses the dark background with the mountain outline. On the square Venu Sq and Venu Sq 2 the round face sits in the middle of the screen.

The face asks for location access only to calculate sunrise and sunset on the watch and to tell day from night for the weather icon. It sends nothing to the internet.

Trial: the face works fully for 7 days. In the last 3 days the number of days left appears at the bottom. After that the face shows your Watch ID and dialforge.dev. Buy a code for that number and enter it in the Connect IQ app, in the face settings (Unlock code).

Cyfrowa tarcza na zdjęciu gór nad morzem chmur o zachodzie słońca. Duża godzina na środku, minuty w kolorze akcentu, małe sekundy obok. U góry łuk z baterią, pod nim dzień tygodnia, data i pełna nazwa miesiąca. Na dole cztery pola z ikoną, podpisem i paskiem postępu.

Zdjęcie jest przyciemnione pod napisami, żeby godzina i liczby były czytelne także w słońcu. Na zegarkach z ekranem MIP (fenix 7, fenix 8 Solar, Forerunner 255 i 955) góry są czarną sylwetką na tle nieba, bo 64 kolory takiego ekranu nie oddadzą rudej mgły bez szumu. Wolisz bez zdjęcia? Styl "Ciemne tło" to czerń z konturem gór.

Domyślnie pola pokazują kroki, dystans, kalorie i tętno, a łuk u góry baterię. Każde z pięciu miejsc możesz zmienić. Do wyboru są 33 rodzaje danych, między innymi poziom energii, stres, wysokość, temperatura z ikoną pogody, ciśnienie, piętra, VO2 max, wynik snu, wiatr, wilgotność, indeks UV i szansa opadów. Pole może też zostać puste.

Paski pokazują postęp tylko tam, gdzie jest do czego go liczyć: kroki i piętra do celu z zegarka, dystans i kalorie do celu, który ustawiasz w tarczy, tętno względem tętna maksymalnego z Twojego profilu. Pole bez celu ma sam pusty tor.

Co jeszcze ustawisz:

• kolor akcentu: czerwony, pomarańczowy, złoty, zielony, turkusowy, niebieski albo biały,
• minuty w kolorze akcentu albo białe,
• cienkie kreski minutowe na brzegu ekranu,
• napis na dole: model zegarka, własny tekst do 16 znaków (gotowe: DIALFORGE, SUMMIT, TRAIL, ALPINE) albo nic,
• sekundy (znikają same, gdy zegarek oszczędza ekran),
• progi, od których bateria robi się pomarańczowa i czerwona,
• jak długo dane pogody są uznawane za aktualne. Pogodę wysyła telefon, tarcza nie zmusi go do pobrania nowej, więc starsze dane pokazuje jako "--",
• ekran wygaszony na AMOLED: cała tarcza przygaszona (domyślnie), godzina z datą, sama godzina albo nic,
• język daty (13 języków), format godziny i zero na początku.

Wszystko zmienisz też na zegarku, w menu Dostosuj. Podgląd na żywo mają zegarki z większą pamięcią, na starszych (fenix 5 Plus, 6S, Forerunner 245, 745 i 945, pierwszy MARQ, Descent Mk2 S, Venu Sq) menu jest zwykłą listą.

Pierścień z liczbami 05-55 ze zdjęcia poglądowego to ramka zegarka, nie ekran, więc tarcza ma tylko opcjonalne kreski minutowe.

Działa na 101 zegarkach Garmin: od fenix 5 Plus do fenix 9, epix, Enduro, MARQ (też MARQ 2), D2, Descent (też Mk2), Approach S50 i S70, Forerunner od 165 do 970, Venu (też Venu Sq), vivoactive od 4 do 6, seria Legacy i Instinct 3 AMOLED. Starsze modele (fenix 5 Plus i 6, Forerunner 245, 745 i 945, pierwszy MARQ, Venu, Venu Sq, vivoactive 4, Enduro, Descent Mk2, seria Legacy) nie mają pamięci na zdjęcie: tam tarcza zawsze ma ciemne tło z konturem gór. Na kwadratowych Venu Sq i Venu Sq 2 okrągła tarcza stoi na środku ekranu.

Tarcza prosi o dostęp do lokalizacji tylko po to, żeby policzyć na zegarku wschód i zachód słońca i odróżnić dzień od nocy przy ikonie pogody. Nic nie wysyła do internetu.

Próba: przez 7 dni tarcza działa w całości. W ostatnich 3 dniach na dole pojawia się liczba dni, które zostały. Potem tarcza pokazuje numer ID zegarka i adres dialforge.dev. Kod kupujesz dla tego numeru i wpisujesz w aplikacji Connect IQ, w ustawieniach tarczy (pole Kod odblokowania).
